Science is a dynamic, collaborative and creative human endeavour arising from our desire to make sense of our world through exploring the unknown, investigating universal mysteries, making predictions and solving problems. Science aims to understand a large number of observations in terms of a much smaller number of broad principles. Science knowledge is contestable and is revised, refined and extended as new evidence arises.
What will I learn?
The Science teaching and learning program at Warrnambool College aims to develop and enhance students’ capacity to question, imagine and explain by transforming the way students observe and investigate their world. The Science course in Year 9 extends students knowledge of key content and skills.
What will I do?
In Year 9, students study topics including body systems, plate tectonics, ecosystems, chemical reactions, sound and electricity.
What will this lead to?
Students will build their skills in year 9 and thereafter access a wide variety of Science choices in year 10 and beyond.
