Elev8 

In 2023 we recognise the need to adapt teaching and learning practices to ensure we support the growth of engaged, connected and aspirational students. Thus, we believe a student-centred, inquiry style learning program will allow Warrnambool College students to thrive. Elev8 is an integrated subject covering English, Humanities and Health. The extended teaching a learning time with the same core teacher, allows for a deep exploration of topics that are relevant to our students.

Elev8 is an integrated concept-driven, inquiry-based classroom where we plan for purpose and possibilities. Elev8 is about preparing students for a lifetime of learning. As teachers we are facilitating the learning using explicit teaching with a range of creative pedagogy to develop 21st Century skills that will translate into their lives beyond Warrnambool College.

We ask two basic questions: Who am I and how am I connected to my community? How can I actively participate in creating a better world? These are answered through our curriculum themes and big ideas.

Maths and Science remain core subjects and whilst referencing Elev8 themes when relevant run as separate subjects.

The aim of the Year 8 curriculum is to continue to offer a broad range of subjects, allowing students the opportunity to experience all key learning areas and enabling students to make informed choices in later years.
