Are you creative? Do you enjoy expressing yourself through art?
If so, Year 7 Art and Design is the perfect opportunity for you to explore and grow your creativity.
The Year 7 Art and Design program at Warrnambool College encourages students to express themselves individually and creatively. Throughout the course, students explore a diverse range of traditional, contemporary, and digital art and design practices.
What will I learn?
In Year 7 Art and Design, students develop foundational skills through a highly creative and exploratory studio process. They are introduced to the elements and principles of Art and Design while engaging with topics such as colour theory and tonal drawing. Students investigate both traditional and contemporary artists and explore landscape and still life as subject matter. Throughout the unit, they document and evaluate their work, building awareness of the diverse role Art and Design plays in society and reflecting on their own creative practice within that context.
What will I do?
Students will create a range of Art and Design works using various mediums, supported by folio development to refine their skills. The program also builds students’ appreciation of the artist’s role in society and the diversity of artistic practices.
What will this lead to?
This course lays the foundation for further success in Year 8 Art and Design and more specialised studies in Years 9 through to VCE.
