Subject Prospectus - Health & PE
Students participate in a range of activities designed to develop an introductory understanding of some of the topics taught in VCE Physical Education. Through various practical classes, covering a range of engaging sports and activities, students will be able to develop this knowledge in practical ways.
What will I learn?
Through the participation in a range of practical classes, students will be able to learn about…
· The acute responses of the different body systems
· Fitness testing
· Muscular and Cardiovascular Systems
· Analyse and assess their own fitness levels and make modifications to improve fitness components such as endurance, power, strength, speed, agility and flexibility.
· Energy Systems and Fitness Components
· Training Program Design.
What will I do?
Participate in a wide range of sports and link them to how our body systems respond to exercise/physical activity. Participate in a wide range of training methods, including aerobic based sessions, such as Fartlek and Long Interval Training, Circuit Training, Boxing etc. Through these students will also gain a theoretical knowledge of how their body responds to different intensities of exercise. Furthermore, students will then be able to apply their knowledge of training methods to create a training session to improve or maintain fitness levels.
What will this lead to?
This elective will lead to VCE Physical Education Unit 1, 2, 3 and 4.
