The focus of this Semester long elective is to develop the Visual Art students skills and techniques across a range of art forms including: drawing, painting, printmaking, digital art and ceramics. Year 9 Art places a strong emphasis on drawing as a means of idea conception.
What will I learn?
The students produce a folio of artwork as well as maintain a record of their studio processes and creative thinking through reflective annotation. Year 9 Art students will investigate the work of a number of traditional and contemporary artists with the aim of gaining a greater understanding of artistic processes, practices, techniques, styles, influences, subject matter, themes and ideas. The study of these artists will influence the student’s personal style and artwork. In year 9 Visual Arts the students design and deliver incredible work using a broad variety of media and have the opportunity to showcase their work at the College.

Students will build their skills in this year 9 elective and thereafter have greater success in year 10 and VCE Art subjects they may elect.
