Physiologic and genetic determinants of lotic bacterial distribution and abundance
J Vaun McArthur
Savannah River Ecology Laboratory, Drawer E, Aiken, South Carolina, USA
Summary: This review has shown that bacterial populations and communities changes both temporally and spatially in streams. The effect of these changes varies and should affect stream ecosystems level processes. These data indicate the need for additional studies to link bacterial distributions to stream processes.
