I was like a bullet down the mogul run. “Good job, you went from looking like a turtle to looking like a cheetah,” Grant pointed out.
“Agreed,” claimed his brother. As I was skiing down the mogul run, my friends and my brother watched me bolt down the mountain. I wanted to go on one run in Jackson, Wyoming really badly because I wanted to prove that I am capable of doing hard things. “You know if you do that trail there's a hundred percent chance I don’t go with you on it, right,” my mom and dad said.
“Well guess what I am going and there is nothing you can do about it,” I replied across the room. We made it to the mountain. The snow was so deep that if I didn’t move I would sink.
The skiing was crazy and very very awesome. First, when we got to the mountain my friends started to convince me to do the trail. “Do you know there is a very moguly and powdery trail?” Grant and Finley questioned.
“Are we doing it now or later or maybe even tomorrow?” asked me and Andrei.
“It depends,” Grant responded. “Maybe we can do the bowl instead, right?” asked Andrei.
“Yeah” ,commented Grant. “I am excited”, I squealed. And I am not lying, I was excited. We all looked over the side of the bowl and we all sended it.
Next, my dad’s friend came along and he showed us some different trails. “Here is the first one,” Chris yelled. So then we hit the road to the mini cliff type thing. We all ended up looking at the side and we all took turns. It was Fins turn then my turn, I was terrified. I thought this was the end of my life. But I knew if I kept my legs up then I would make it over. I made it over but I ended up crashing. Lastly, we were talking at lunch about if we were going to the mogul run tomorrow.
The next day , I was sure I was going on the mogul run. “Are you going on it?”, Fin asked. “Maybe” I said. At this point, I was so close to even looking over the edge. I tried to look over but unfortunately the edge was blocked off for backcountry skiing. So instead we skied a groomed run first. “Ahhhhhh now that is something I like to do,” my mom and dad laughed.
“I personally don’t like the moguls,” my dad giggled.
“Well I am ok with them,” I reply back.
During the groomed run I was going through trees and jumping off of boulders. “Wooooooooh let’s go that was epic,” I’m saying that, amazed at the trail. We all went on some different powder runs and were having fun. “Oh shoot,” I yell to everyone. The first to me was Mrs.Sherman. “What happened?” Mrs Sherman asked. “Oh so I crashed and I lost my ski somewhere in the snow,” I responded back. So then Mrs.Sherman had to start looking for and digging out my ski. After fifteen long minutes, She finally found the ski. “Million thank yous,” I say to her. I was worried what would happen if we didn't find my ski. I then would have to one ski all the way down the mountain. Sadly, today wasn’t the day but tomorrow is. “Tomorrow is definitely the day,” I say to myself.
I thought yesterday was the day I face my fears but it was not. No, today is the day I face my fears. “Today is the day,” every kid shouted. I started to make my way over to the hill. I am excited just on the way over there. The way there is just a bit tricky but I made it . “Whoa!” I mentioned. The view was incredible. I finally looked over the edge and decided that I should 100 percent do it. “That is a long way down,” Everyone yelled.
“Yea, woooooooooooooooooh woh, this is very fun,” Grant spoke.
Then I went, I leaned back and with each turn I was getting better. My heart was pounding, that I thought I was going to pass out. It started fine and got so much better. With a blink of an eye, I was halfway down the run. Then, me, my brother and friends all crashed and we were having a blast. I made it to the bottom without energy and was ready to do it again. After, we ate lunch and I told my dad about it and he ended up doing it and he hated it. “Did you like it?” I asked my dad.
“NO, I hated it and I will never go back on it ever again”.
I will never forget the day I faced my fears. It was awesome knowing that I am capable of doing something like that. I was so incredibly proud of myself. Right after, I said to myself I can do anything. That was my first time doing anything that steep and or moguly. It was very cold because I was getting snow where snow should never be. I learned that I just have to believe in myself and I will do good things in life.
