Freeze
By Noah Solovey
Have you ever thought about what would happen if
you were normally
just
w a l k i n g
and then
you fr oz e?
A few seconds pass
Your watch starts to itch your frozen body
30 seconds
You realize the edge of your sock is sticking out and it feels funny
One minute
That bug bite that got you yesterday started itching
30 more seconds
Your legs weaken and you dare to move again
but you don't.
Two minutes
This one area in your shirt is partially touching your body and partially not; it tickles
30 seconds more
Two more bug bites erupt in itchiness
Three minutes
Your watch is really annoying you and your socks remain in that unnatural 94% position
30 seconds later
Inside, your d y i n g and outside you are irr it ate d
Four minutes
Every part of you wants to move, the word remain slowly fades out
Five minutes
Blinking seems crucial. You chose not to. Movement is at risk
Five minutes, 18 seconds
You move
Five minutes, 19 seconds
You're frozen. Again.
This time
Permanently.
