Presidential Election Speech
Written by Noah Solovey
Douglas MacArthur once said, “A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of others.” When I first heard of the 6th grade having a presidential council I was overjoyed. In my past, I have been a leader on so many different occasions. Whether it was starting a school club or something as simple as leading wacky camp chants that say “Holy Moly Guacamole I Feel So Green!”, I have always been drawn to opportunities that showcase my leadership skills. My name is Noah Solovey and I would love to have the opportunity of sixth grade president. For the past few weeks, I have been trying to meet and get to know the sixth grade, because what I will prioritize in the decisions the council makes will all be for the grade. If the grade wants more activities, or dress-down days, or opportunities, or recess, I will do my best to please everyone at all costs.
Firstly, I wanted to express what I would like to bring to the grade. Let me start by explaining my idea of open opportunities for the grade. I feel that if the students got to be involved in jobs, or leadership opportunities more people would feel that they are contributing to the fun year. I also feel that if there are more activities like The Holiday Games, there can be more fun, competitiveness, and bonding between the grade. Maybe we can even get recess occasionally! (That would be awesome) Also, what if we can get more dress-down days? You, and you, and you all matter, and if I am president, I will take into notice all of your ideas. I will do whatever it takes to satisfy the grade, as long as it benefits everyone. Just like Ms Nails gives us pop tarts and cheez-itz, I will give you what you think the grade needs.
After all, I see this presidential election as a chance to be a leader and help the grade. Even though you might already know who you want to vote for, I want you to remember what I have spoken to you in this speech, and I want you to once again “Noah” candidate that will help the grade and do whatever it takes to satisfy everyone. I wanted to end this speech with a quote, as in the beginning of this speech. I wanted this quote to demonstrate what I aim to do as president. As John C. Maxwell once said, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” Thank you and good luck to everyone else running!
