Schoolwork Advice
By Rylan Albert
Moving from elementary to middle school is a big jump. For example, schoolwork changes a lot. You get more homework, tests, and assignments. A lot more is expected from you and you have to balance 4-7 classes, all at once. So, I’m gonna give you MY tips to be successful in middle school! Personally, these tips would’ve been very helpful as a brand-new middle schooler.
First of all, STAY ORGANIZED, or definitely try to. It’s gonna be rough if you're not somewhat organized. Keep your locker clear of trash, and unneeded things. Have your books nicely in there, and don’t pile things up. I recommend the same with your backpack, unless you want to lose your homework at the bottom. It’s happened to me before…that was a nightmare. By organized, I mean staying on top of school work and getting things submitted in time as well. The night you get your homework, I know you're gonna wanna go home and play video games, or watch TV, or even play outside on your trampoline. But, just get the homework done, I promise, it’s worth it. If you don’t do it then, you’ll remember it in the last second, and you’ll rush and get a bad grade. You don’t want that, do you? That’s what I mean, just get it done! With that said and done, I move on to my next tip.
DON’T STRESS!! This is a big one. If you’re a good student, and you just need, let’s say, one more day to finish your science project, to make it so amazing! Just ask your teacher nicely, or send her/him an email. Unless you’ve had like, a whole month to do this project, then they should (hopefully) give you more time. That’s the thing about it. You can’t stress over those small things. Personally, at my school, there’s always corrections and retakes you can do! And if they don’t give you the extra time, it's OK! I’m sure you’ll get a fine grade, and if your not happy with the score, just do corrections! It’ll all work out in the end.
Moving on, I think students should stay focused, but school isn’t your life. You have life outside of school, sports, friends, family and so much more. School is one of your top priorities, but it’s not your whole entire LIFE. Your grades don’t define you, either. Remember that, THEY DONT DEFINE YOU AS A PERSON!
That’s all I can think of for now. If you have more ideas for me, or want more help, let me know immediately! I hope these tips help, and goodluck in middle school!! :)
