Imagine you had every tech gadget in your generation. You have gotten home from work or school and have some extra work to complete. But you get distracted by one device lying next to you and never finish that work. How would your life be if this happened every single day? Technology is harmful to our whole body. The amount of blue light, a special light that damages the eyes after too much, that a human absorbs daily is about 11 hours, according to a study done in 2018. Technology is awful for us and our brains because it is addicting and distracting.
According to source #1, “Scientists say juggling emails, phone calls, and other information can change how people think and behave.” This proves that people who take in too much information at a time will have trouble thinking and it takes over their mind, making them act and feel differently. In addition, source #1 explains, “The stimulation provokes excitement and dopamine squirts.” This shows that electronics can make people feel and act differently. Either tired, energized before sleep, excited, or angry. Not only can technology be addicting, but can also be distracting.
Technology is not good for us and our brains because it can be distracting and makes us lose focus. According to source #1, “And for millions of people like Mr. Campbell, these urges can inflict nicks and cuts on creativity and deep thought, interrupting work and family life.” This proves that technological devices can affect thinking and how creative a person’s mind is. Also, source #1 states, “Conner’s troubles started last year. He could not focus on his homework.” This shows that he finds himself on his device after school and is distracted, so he doesn’t finish his homework. Technology can be addicting and distracting, but also has excellent effects on the brain and body.
Some people claim that technology actually has good effects on the brain. One of the best reasons is that people who play certain games develop better visual acuity, a measure of the ability of the eye to distinguish shapes and the details of objects at a given distance. They can see better than others. However, many more people say that the devices they look at can affect how they sleep, dream, think, and feel, and attention spans all change drastically. Many problems arise from these changes and also cause changes in their daily activities. It is best to stay away from these devices.
Balance tech pros and cons to maximize benefits, and minimize harm. First, scientists have discovered that people who absorb too much information act and think differently. They also get easily bored with the absence of electronics. Second, technology can interrupt work and family life by pushing out creativity. Before you decide to use an electronic, make sure that all of your work is completed and have enjoyed some time with the people around you; If you are looking for something to do, consider card games, board games, etc., and try to limit the amount of screen time in a day.
