This is a persuasive I wrote to show how AI can have a huge effect on the world. In The Making
AI Persuasive
By Noah Solovey
Samuel has a few weeks left of his senior year in high school, and his writing teacher is having him write a report on his school career. He immediately panics, as he is not a good writer. The second he gets home, there is only one thing on his mind: the assignment. He calls his friend, Tim, and he suggests that he should go to Chat GPT and have the AI make a report for him. In less than five seconds, he has a two-page report right on his screen. He copies and pastes the report into a document.
Nowadays, technology is advancing by the second. Have you ever felt like one day, AI will be the future? From taking jobs to helping students cheat on tests, AI is a danger to humanity, and eventually, it can highly change the regular human day. Isn't it just fascinating how smart AI is? AI will one day be dangerous, and it may endanger humans.
Though sometimes it may seem like it, AI is never an advantage. For some students who feel insecure about their writing, they use AI to make things for them. Not only do students use AI, but some people use it for job interviews. Could you imagine the feeling of losing out on your dream job because someone used a robot to create their resume? That just wouldn't be fair, right? Oh, and even worse than a human taking your job, a robot taking it? Think about it, if you were a newspaper editor and you one day got an email stating that you were fired because a robot took your job and is making fantastic articles, you would be shocked. One day, this could be the reality. Isn't that scary?
Even if AI wasn't a thing, news is always something going around. When you look at the TV, have you ever wished that you could be the reporter? AI has. Because AI developers discovered that fake humans can be put into videos by AI, news reporting by an AI would get out of hand. You heard me, fake news. Rumors. AI is a danger.
After ranting about AI being bad for a while, let's look at the pros of AI. Firstly, it can be really helpful in the business world, if you need selling advice or logos for example, AI image generators and ChatGPT can be helpful, but so can a human. Also, in the medical world, AI instruments can be really helpful. According to The American College of Surgeons, AI can benefit and change the safety of surgery for the better. It can also revolutionize surgery. But most things that an AI can do, a human can do too so is AI a threat to jobs? For humans, yes.
AI is not invisible, in fact, an actual AI robot named, "Sophia" (freaky, right?) has been located on many shows and has explained the benefits of AI and the future. Sophia talks, and the robot honestly is a bit cool. The robot Sophia is very intelligent and defines AI very well. But have you ever thought about if a robot has judgment? For AI, we don't know, but if they do not have judgment, violence can occur. AI is a threat to humanity, and if you want change, AI is not the solution. Back to the story.
Days later, Samuel received an A+ on his report. But the next day, Samuel's teacher has just called him out of class to talk to him. It's the last day of high school, and he doesn't want any conflict. His teacher tells him that he is going to present his report to the grade. Days later, he steps in front of a lecture and starts presenting "his" report. Once he is done reading it, the principal asks for a copy.
Meanwhile, the principal is putting his report into an AI checker. An AI checker examines work and can tell if it was made by AI. Once the principal pastes the report into it he sees a color flash on the screen. It's a big green circle that confirms that it was made by AI.
"Samuel?" This time it wasn't his teacher, it was the principal. "Nice try." The principal states. "W-What do you mean?" "Using ChatGPT to make your report. Your action completely violates the rules. You are now going to have to redo your senior year. Take this letter home to your parents explaining what you did, I used AI to type it." She winked.
