When you wait for your waiter to come take your order, aren’t you now the “waiter”?
In fact, I am not going to give a yes or a no to this one. I’m going to simply say you are now someone who is waiting. A “waiter.” You are not the same kind of waiter that your waiter is, but you are waiting, so if you want to make up a word for it you are being a waiter. So both of you guys are waiters, in fact, the whole restaurant is waiting. Technically, in every action in a restaurant, you are practically a waiter. Situation 1: you are waiting for the waiter to take your order. Situation 2: you are waiting for your food. Situation 3: a chef is waiting for the meal to be finished. Situation 4: the check-in person is waiting for someone to get a table. You can seriously go on and on. So how about this? I have a new question for you: Name a situation in a restaurant where you aren’t waiting.
