The goal of the game is to score the most points by either scoring a touchdown. The touchdowns are at both ends of the field. If you score a touchdown you get 6 points. Another way to score is to kick a field goal. They are located behind the touchdowns. If you score a field goal you get 3 points since they are much easier to get. Football is a brutal game. 1 out of every 4 players gets hurt in 1 season. Also, a sack is when the QB does not throw the ball in time, and he loses yards on a play, an interception is when the QB throws the ball to the other team, and a safety(Not the position!) is when a QB gets sacked in the end zone resulting in the other team gaining two points. Also, you've won an easter game.
The positions on the field
Up first is offense. First, we have the Quarterback(QB). He/she is the one passing the ball or handing it off. Second, we have the running back (RB/HB). He/she needs to be agile, and they are the ones who the QB is handing the ball off to. Third, we have the Wide Receiver(WR). He/she needs to be extremely fast, and they are usually the one the QB is throwing the ball to. There is also the Tight End(TE) who is basically a receiver, but they are bigger and stronger. Then there is the Safety and the Center(SS and C). The Center snaps the ball to the QB and the Safety is the one with the most responsibility to ensure the QB does not get sacked. The last position on defense is the Offensive Lineman(OL). They usually just block defensive players from sacking the QB.
Next up is defense. Email Finley or me if we miss some positions, but here we go. First, we have the Cornerback(CB). Probably the most important position on defense. They are the ones who chase down the WRers and try to intercept the ball or tackle the WR. Next, we have the Defensive Lineman(DL). Their job is to stop the RB or to rush the QB. Third, we have the Defensive Back(DB). Sort of like the CB, they also cover the WRers. Lastly, we have the Safeties(SS). They can be on defense or offense and they act as the final line of defense.
