Trimester 1 Reflection
By Noah Solovey, Reflecting on 1st Trimester
In trimester one, I learned many concepts in learning, and also ways I prioritize, study, organize, and work. When I look back, I realize how many things I’m proud of and how many things I can improve on. Seeing your pros and cons in education is a big part of learning, and really matters when reflecting on your past work. In this case, I will be reflecting on my educational path in trimester one, and going over all the things I could improve on, and all the things that I am content with.
I am proud of many accomplishments and grades in trimester one, and I really couldn’t have wished for a better start to my middle school year. First of all, I am so satisfied with my distinguished honor roll. Getting distinguished honor roll meant so much to me, because it really just showed how grades reflect on the amount of effort you gave and how much you understand what you were taught. Secondly, my summative grades ended up excellent. Summative grades are the biggest part of your final trimester grade, and having nice numbers on those made me so proud. On some summatives, I was very unconfident about getting a solid score, and in the end I was impressed when I ended up acing the summative. Finally, my work ethic in trimester one was awesome. I did not have any uncompleted assignments and barely any late work. After all, I am so proud of so many aspects of trimester one.
In trimester one, there weren't only pros. There were many aspects of trimester one where I see I can improve. Firstly, overdoing work was something I exceeded in writing. I love to write more than anything, but 11 pages of a narrative was definitely a little too much for the required assignment. Another thing I can improve on is organization. I do have to admit that my binders are messy and they could be a lot better. Finally, prioritizing time is definitely something to work on. If it is advisory or homework, prioritizing my time so I can get the most important things done first is highly important on “the list.” All in all, I do have many ways to improve for future trimesters.
Trimester two has already started and in many ways, I have changed my way of work. Starting off, I have been using my advisory time much more responsibly. Advisory is important for work completion, late work, and catching up on missed lessons and it is extremely helpful to me. Following, I have been working on focusing more in class, rather than being distracted by friends. Especially when there is a sub, everyone gets a bit more wound up. There is less control over the classroom, so it is much harder to stay on task. To end, I am going to use all retake chances wisely. Retakes help put your grade up, and having the opportunity to do them helps. In conclusion, trimester two will bring new concepts to my brain and I will get those new concepts in more efficient ways.
As I reflect on trimester one, I have realized so many new things about myself. From work ethic to focus, I have had a fantastic trimester one. And as the cherry on the cake, I earned a distinguished honor roll. Woohoo!
