Sadly this one wasn't voted (though the ones that were voted were great!) but I still enjoyed writing this and was pretty proud of it, seeing as I have never really written a speech before. Enjoy, and by the way congrats Noah!
MLK Speech by Eva Piper
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has done countless acts of passion towards the Civil Rights Movement and was a key factor in creating freedom for African Americans, inspiring people all over the nation.
60 years ago, on August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. recited his iconic "I Have A Dream!" speech to an audience of over 250,000 people. Today, we still look up to and are grateful for Dr. King's work.
58 years ago, on March 21-25, 1965, King enlisted many brave souls to a peaceful march in Selma, Alabama, called the Selma March. Present day, we still have peaceful marches as well, filled with non-violence and valiant people stepping one foot in front of another to reach their goal.
38 years ago, on the third Monday of January, the first day dedicated to Dr. King was celebrated by people all over the country. Right now, teachers are teaching children about the importance of King's work and how and why to be an activist.
Courageous, young people have taken a stand every single day to fight for what's right, and because of them, incredibly noticeable changes have been made to today's economy, such as how black people have more rights than they did back 60 years ago, whether it's the fact that slavery is officially abolished or that African Americans can vote.
Dr. King made some of the most important changes in history, even throughout all his troubles and trauma. Against all odds, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. persevered, taking the nation along with him.
