I wrote this editorial the day the big news came out. WARNING: Liverpool fan may find this extremely offensive.
Jurgen Klopp - My Verdict - Editorial
Written By Noah Solovey, True Man Citeh Fan
January 26th, 2024. Jurgen Klopp announces news that shakes the Fans of Liverpool FC. Even the ones that don’t support Liverpool, were also astonished. It went into the “Breaking News” category on the Sky Sports Transfer Centre Live. The future of Afield’s precious manager was decided. Jurgen Klopp would be leaving at the end of the 23/24 Premier League season. Everyone had a different opinion. Was the time right? Who is going to replace the man? And worst of all, What Now?
When I woke up to the sound of my alarm, still sick, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go to school or go back to bed. Instead, while everyone was still asleep, I opened my computer and opened the transfer window, and of course, YouTube. The headline shocked me. It read: Klopp to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. At first, I didn’t think it was confirmed. I was wrong. Very wrong.
At first, it didn’t appear to be a big deal to me, at all. I just thought that life would continue as normal. I also thought that it would be a good thing for Man City. A good thing for Man City next season. Liverpool would just have more motivation to win, now that it was Klopp’s last season. Hour by hour, the Jurgen Klopp news was everywhere. With nothing to do except wait for the Man City game later, versus Spurs, I looked deeper into the headline.
Soon I found out that Xabi Alonso was the wanted Manager from when Liverpool’s lovely Klopp, was gone. I also looked up Klopp’s age, just to see if it’s somewhat fair. 56 years old. Yet, the manager of Crystal Palace is 76. But even the oldest Manager, manages Albania at 78! Look at Klopp, in his goodbye interview, with his glasses off, trying to look as old as possible. You might already have an idea of my verdict on this Premier League headline, but let me rant a bit more.
I think that Jurgen Klopp exiting Liverpool at his age is absolute bloody shambles, as English fans would say. He is in his “Manager Prime” and he thinks it’s time for him to stop. Liverpool is in a state of mind where they want trophies, and the man who can do that is doing nothing but leaving. Bloody Shambles.
On a good note, if Xabi Alonso is brought to his old club, I don’t see this as a loss. Have you seen what Alonso is doing with Leverkusen right now? If he walks into Liverpool’s training ground, he can start cooking things up, like a lot.
In conclusion, if Roy Hodgson can manage at 76, Klopp could easily do so too. Liverpool’s man will be remembered as a Liverpool legend, and every fan knows it. When a little boy gets a Liverpool history book in future years, there will sure be a sentence that reads: Jurgen Klopp was one of the greatest managers Anfield has had in history.
