The unofficial Miss Europe pageants, run by the Comite Officiel International Miss Europe. has not been fully documented. It was established in 1950 by Jean Raibaut, with headquarters in Paris, France. He unsuccessfully tried to make his pageant more prestigious than the official Miss Europe contests (run by Mondial Events Organization, also headquartered in Paris, France).
Mondial Events Organisation sued Comite Officiel et International Miss Europe in 2000 to stop them from using the title Miss Europe. In 2015, the businessman Yassin K. Fawaz started a new Miss Europe (World) pageant held in Beirut, Lebanon. Besides that, a new Miss Europe organization was stablished in UK in 2016. They are all unofficial Miss Europe.

Miss Europe 1927, was the first ever edition Miss Europe pageant and the only edition under Fanamet, the European distributor of Paramount. It was first held at Sofiensaal in Vienna, Austria on February 5, 1927. After the original panel of 12 judges couldn't decide the winner, a "runoff" was held on March 15, 1927 in Berlin, Germany. The winner was chosen by Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau who then starred in a movie directed by him.
