On this trail I’ve become overwhelmed
Left or right I need to decide.
Can't help but feel lost
Many others passing by,
How can I keep up?
Am I not meant to compete?
The finish line approaching quickly
Leaving me no time.
How can I keep up?
When writing this poem I was inspired to write about the struggle of feeling lost and scared when you don't know what to do. For me it was self doubt and indecisiveness about college. We graduate in a couple of months and the time is flying by, and I haven’t finished an application.
This was one of those poems that was so easy to relate to, I think at one point everyone feels like they are running out of time. I really like the way she used "Am I not meant to compete" to show that sometimes you compare other peoples success to yours.

I always have a constant mental battle of weather I'm doing enough or not doing enough, but then I feel stuck because my indecisiveness it makes me feel frozen at a stop. Just like Maritza describes people passing by as she feels stuck, which really allowed me to relate more to this poem.
