Relationships are a nuisance,
They cut up your words,
And tie your emotions up,
And hang ‘em.
Is it clear to you that I don’t want this,
I don’t wanna hear you say those words,
That I don’t love you,
You are making me think that I’m doing wrongful things,
Maybe I am and maybe you deserve better,
Or maybe I just need to treat you better.
Maybe we need a break,
Cut the cake,
We need to wake,
This is a mistake,
Envy is a snake,
And love's the venom.
Some are bad,
And some we shouldn’t ever have had,
But some are good,
Just like me and my dad,
And some just make me so mad,
That I wanna lay them on the pad,
And just let them drift away,
On my raft.
Relationships are getting boring,
They are so boring,
I'm just riding,
Let me lay dying,
I’m over here crying,
And let me get dry.
Under the towel of lying,
Saying we do love each other,
When we know this isn’t working,
Maybe we should stop,
Maybe we need therapy,
This is hypocrisy,
I love you, I do.
I based my poem off of my relationships with the people whom I love. We have ups and downs and situations that make us hate each other and think negatively because of it. But at the end of the day we love each other. Some literary devices that I included in my piece include metaphor and rhyme.
This would've made me cry if I wasn't in class in front of other people. I really loved this. Sometimes I feel the same but I know it gets better or at least we hope right?

This was a really great poem, I really liked the shift to rhyme from lines 11 to 24. The metaphor in the first 4 lines was my favorite part, because I felt like it had the biggest impact on the tone of the poem.
