Realization is the making or being made real of something imagined, planned, etc. Do you wonder why it is that you realize things and the timing of it? Is it because it's trying to prove something is wrong or vice versa, or maybe even to show you that you realize things too late?
For example you see how you don’t put effort or commitment to a sport. Then all of a sudden you really want to win a game against your rival and give it your all to win. YOU realize how successful your team could be if everybody gave and played with the same hustle and energy on the court. Perhaps that is right. From being something small in life to something big that can change your perspective in many things.
Such as seeing my mom always try to give us everything we want, no matter the circumstances she has to go through. Working all 7 days a week for 8 hours or more each day, to then falling low and having no money saved up. We went through a lot to realize and see to not just buy stuff because you WANT it, but buy stuff because you NEED it.
You don’t need to buy everything you LIKE, sometimes it’s just a waste of money. You also don’t need to buy things to show how RICH you are and never compare what you have with others because not everybody can afford what you can. You don’t know what circumstances they have to go through to get food at their tables. Everybody has their own problems to face to be able to afford something.
I realized when I was taking everything for granted and just kept asking for more and more. I never realized how bad it looked from me, and my mom never told me anything, she just kept giving me everything I wanted. Then I realized when my cousins had to come live with us how much my mom would do to give us everything we ask for. My cousins always wanted everything when we would go to the store and everything they wanted was expensive. But my mom always tried to give it to them. They didn’t realize how much they would spend until their brother came from Mexico with one pair of clothes. Their brother showed them pictures of how they live over there, very hot and always working, some of them start as early as the age of 5.
My cousins realized how ungrateful they are when they went to live with their mom and she couldn’t afford everything they wanted. She had just got here from Mexico with no money, only debts. She tried everything such as getting two jobs but then her kids realized that wasn't what they wanted. They realized that others don't have their parents with them and they preferred to live with her and for her to give them attention and love, instead of being at work everyday and all day.
I suggest always appreciating what you buy or receive. You don’t know how much time and effort they put so you could have everything you want. Open your eyes and see the backstory of it.
I am the oldest child and the only girl, growing up I have always been the one to help my parents the most. I decided to write about this because I know my mom works very hard to always give us what we want. When we were little we wouldn’t really see it and wouldn’t think much of it. I realized that it is very complicated to have a good standard of living when my mom makes a little above minimum wage and works everyday to make sure we have everything we need.
I like how you became self-aware of the situation you were put in, not many people are mature enough to realize this. This piece made me realize that all of us have been blindsided by materialistic things some way or another, including me, and the only way to become better is by taking that first step and realizing our greediness.

This essay does a very good job on connecting personal experiences with actual topic. The real world examples give a clear and thorough explanation as to why realization is so important for an individual to grow as a person. Not only does the essay make an assessment on the importance of working hard, but also gives a very personal message regarding on not taking the nice things in life for granted.

I liked reading your piece because its really relatable. My mom has always tried to give my brother and I everything, but my brother would always ask for more. As him being the older brother I would expect him to be the mature one, but he would constantly demand more from my mom. So to cancel this out I would never try to ask for anything. I enjoyed reading the part that said "They didn’t realize how much they would spend until their brother came from Mexico with one pair of clothes. Their brother showed them pictures of how they live over there, very hot and always working, some of them start as early as the age of 5" this brought up many emotions for me, as my parents had struggled like this when they were young.

I really liked the part where she explains how her cousin got here with only the clothes he had on and how that turned into a realization for her other cousins, it really tied to her theme. My favorite details in this piece were when she describes her mother's work ethic and schedule because I think a lot of us can relate to having your parents work long and hard hours just to have enough money for food and a place to live.
