As of now I still don't have a car of my own. I feel like I'm locked away from freedom. But the other day that changed. My dad's truck has been through some stuff, especially the battery which has been through a lot numerous times. The other day my dad wanted to take out the truck for a bit but the battery was dead. After a bit of doing what he needed to do he jumped started the truck and it turned on.
This gave me a chance to take the truck out. I quickly rushed to him in the hope he would say yes, and yes is what he said. As I got into the truck I had this great feeling of going out and exploring new places. It was an opportunity to do something that I've never done.
I was on the road now and it felt relaxing. Having the windows down and feeling the cold wind was refreshing. It took away my stress and I felt better about myself. It was amazing. I was going through new roads that I have never explored and seeing new things everywhere that I looked. This is a journey that I will never forget about.
What really inspired me to write this is because it's a new thing that I was able to do. It's just like when you get your first phone and thousands of new things come up. As for my writing process I read through the whole original piece and then started editing it slowly. This gave me more time to think whether something was wrong or if it was correct. A literary device that I used throughout the story was imagery. Just imagine in your head driving on the empty road with the windows rolled down, you can easily see it.
A phrase that really stood out to me in this memoir was "it took away my stress and I felt better about myself" because I've felt this feeling before as I drive around as well. I do like the main message in this not only is a car helpful to get around but it's an escape for other people from their problems. A detail I will say I liked is the way Elvis explains the problems his dad truck was having and what they had to do to get it moving.

I love the way you express yourself with the sentence "It was an opportunity to do something that I've never done." because you can tell how inspirational and proud you are of achieving a very desirable goal of freedom.

This piece was short but meaningful. He felt like there was nothing going for him, he had no hope. But since the old truck turned on after a jump it gave him some kind of hope. Not just for the truck but also for himself. If the old truck can turn on after so long then you still have plenty of things going for you. The truck was just a new beginning.
