I’ve lived in a lot of places, from apartments, to a house, and even a townhouse. But the most memorable one was my grandpa and grandma’s house. Now, at the time thing’s weren’t the best for my parents, my little brother, and of course me. The family was going through a lot of issues, personal, and financial which left me, my little brother, and mom living with my grandparents. Now my parents were going through something, but we eventually all lived together again and we still are to this day, happy as ever. Just wanted to clear the situation up.
But, now back to the story. Despite not being the best time in me, and my family’s life, we still managed to make it great and to be honest, I had some of my favorite memories there. For example, my 8th birthday took place there and that was my biggest party ever. The whole block and more came to celebrate MY birthday and I remember walking around and seeing so many smiles and so much laughter all over, it was amazing.
I also remember the time it snowed on Christmas day and how excited me and my brother were. We had never experienced snow and the little time we had with it was great, especially getting to throw snowballs at everyone in the driveway and yard. The whole family enjoyed the snow and we were out there for hours.
Eventually we moved out to our first apartment and despite it being a tough time in my family’s life, we managed to make it the best at the same time, and I will never forget that.
My Name is Pedro Orta and I'm a 12th grade student at NHS. Remembering about the amazing memories I created while living in that house inspired me to write this short essay. I used imagery a lot to paint the picture for the reader so they can feel what I experienced and how special it was. I didn’t really structure but I did go back and add to certain sentences to kinda give them more feel and emotion.
Something I really liked about this memoir is how the author talked about his favorite memories and how he tried making the best out of a tough situation.
