My grandpa stood there petrified.
My dog fiercely biting the snake that
Jumped towards my grandpa's foot.
As death approached the savior whom
Knows or wants nothing in return devotes to
save a star in the night sky.
A dog and its bone make an unbreakable chain,
Every action has a reaction so let the brain deal with the rain.
Let the bone be its throne in which she decides to share
Let the love for each other grow and flourish while they stare,
At each other.
The pure soul that stared at my old men,
Like watching the sunset waiting for another great day and a bone in her mouth.
He watched the dog perish as the snake had inserted the venom.
Their sincere emotions shown by their expressions, will always let their heart speak the truth, Tigra will wait for eternity showing her loyalty is worth more than 100 heavens.
The pure soul left the bone, let it turn into ashes; while the wind carries it,
Disappearing forever.
The reason I was inspired to do this piece of writing is because my grandfather had such a loyal dog and the love they had for each other is something that can't be compared. When you get to a certain age I have realized that you get lonely and the only love you receive can be from a dog which is the purest and kindest type of love.
When it came to writing this poem I thought about the structure and the pauses that were required in order to make it sound right. The writing is very fluent and has a lot of connections and hidden meanings that make it exceptional. The poem is a type of writing that most people would relate to or agree with so the process of writing was more of a slow reading tone and very deep messages with good context within the poem.
The literary devices that I have used are anaphora, metaphors, imagery, alliteration and repetition which make the poem be a poem.
The structure of the stanzas were chosen when a new idea begins that refers to the last one but continues to speak about the story. There is also an intro to give the reader an idea of what they are going to read and not just get them lost.
I am the type of person who pays attention to the details and lives in the moments, creating memories that will never be forgotten. This story was about my grandfather and his dog but also my point of view on how their relationship contributed into each other's life.
The line, "As death approached the savior whom knows or wants nothing in return devotes to save a star in the night sky." is an amazing way to use imagery as he compares his grandfather to a star in the night. This imagery tells us how his dog risked his own life to save a spec in the grand scheme of life. This poem expresses the relationship and bond between his grandfather and his dog and how his dog traded it's own life to that Dennis's grandfather can see another day.
