Gold that shines so bright
Always giving all its might
Yet its cold and so old
Has its story ever told?
Golden hearts and golden minds
Young fools trapped in horrid binds
Set astray so far away
Night they saw but never day
Walked rough paths to follow coin
No joy or laughter could they join
Time it passed it couldn't stay
Never did they get to play
Now dead they lay in shallow graves
From grace they stray their souls are slaves
Yet screeches are cried for Gold to chase
Will you join their endless Maze?
Something made for a project and then revived to pass the time, a lot of rhyme sites were used for this. Maybe one day I'll give it more thought and better rhymes since it feels that an older mind could one day recreate it for the better. This poem was heavily influenced by the many poems in ‘The Hobbit’ By J.J.R. Tolkien.
