It was 2 a.m.
The wind had let out a sigh,
begging me to leave.
What inspired me to write this poem was more of less based on a personal experience. Over the summer I would sneak off at night, and I would never do anything bad, it was more like wanting to experience life on edge, knowing I could get caught. Some literary devices I used were personification and sensory details. The wind isn’t a living organism, yet I made it seem like the wind had life. And everyone has heard at least someone sigh in their life before, so you can already imagine and get the idea of the wind sighing. I decided to structure the poem as a haiku. They’re really fun to do because one can struggle to have 5 syllables, not more or less, and it really gets your brain flowing and thinking.
This poem had stood out to me when i first saw it. Normally I don't tend to see such short poems, or those inspired by a "Haiku." Even if the poem is short on words, the feeling of wanting to escape is expressed amazingly.
