Butterflies.
Name the butterfly anything you want
It looks beautiful on your wrist, just dont hurt it…
I won't, I promise.
I relapsed; I damaged it
It'll be alright, right? A butterfly can fly with a little damage on its wing…
Right?
Butterflies fly
Butterflies heal
Butterflies don't look back…
I will be that butterfly next time right?
Just like a butterfly, I will transform into something beautiful
Allow me to fly through the skies full of light and happiness.
I feel careless, free, and brave just like other
Butterflies.
In today's society a lot of people deal with depression and may start doing self harm. The meaning of having a butterfly on your wrist is for you to not cause any harm to yourself. People who suffer from this may feel like they just wanna give up when in reality time heals and it can all get better. The writing process wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be since it was something I already had planned out.
my favorite phrase was "I will be that butterfly next time right?" This allowed me to make the connection that she believes that although being hurt she can still continue being herself.

This poem was beautifully structured. I learned about "The Butterfly Project," at a young age but it really helped me with my SH. I really liked how she explains how she slipped up again but keeps the hope alive by saying that butterflies heal and can fly away and be happy just like the author.

I liked when you said "A butterfly can fly with a little damage on its wing... Right?" because it makes me think of how even though we can be hurt, damaged, etc., how we can still "fly" in our lives even if we're damaged.
