I'm thinking about you,
yes I'm thinking about you
You with those slightly hazy brown pretty eyes
hiding in whatever new pair of glasses you've bought ever since you decided breaking up was a good idea
You with those long arms that used to wrap around me making me feel safety and warmth throughout rough nights of battle between my heart and mind or tired nights after work
You with the beautiful lips that pressed against mine melting my face into yours locking us together into one
So sudden like a strike of lightning coming from popcorn storms, you decided to turn those cozy bliss arms into stone cold barriers.
The inspiration behind this poem is a break up I recently went through. It was so sudden, it hurt me. My writing process consisted of me pouring my feelings into the essay and listening to music. Music heavily influences my writing.
This poem hits a little too close to home. Breakups can be a huge pain to go through especially when your feelings towards the person was strong. This makes me remember the first break up I had went through with someone I was in love with and the struggle of getting over it. My favorite part is in the last line, "you decided to turn those cozy bliss arms into stone cold barriers." The contrast of something warm and comforting to something cold and repelling is a great way to express how a breakup can feel.

I really liked this poem because I can also relate to it. I liked all the details that you included when talking about his eyes and how he made you feel. The piece made me think of a "break up" that I went through with a girl that wore glasses.
