Description:
Solitary monoecious palm, to 10 m tall; stem light grey, slightly bottle-shaped. Leaves clustered towards the apex 6-10 in the crown, 2.5-3 m long; primary pinnae regularly arranged, 90-100, larger pinnae 45-70 cm long, terminal pinnae 10-23 cm long; young leaves densely covered with scales. Inflorescence 75-100 cm long, with 4 orders of branching; rachis light green. Male flowers 1 cm long; petals greenish-yellow. Female flowers 5-6 mm long. Fruit ca 5 x 3 mm, orange-red.
