Description:
Shrub; branches with prominent leaf-scars towards apex. Leaves crowded at apex, oblong, to 40 cm long, purplish, abruptly constricted into the petiole, grooved above. Panicle to 40 cm, well branched. Flowers bisexual; Perianth 1.5 cm, lobes 3+3, reddish. Stamens 6, inserted on the tube. Berry subglobose, 1 cm wide.
