Description:
Perennial herbs. Leaves simple, opposite, acute to acuminate at apex, narrowed to the base. Flowers 5-merous, mostly heterostylus. Corolla, pink, white, lavender, red or pink with white stripes; tube narrowly cylindrical, to 2 cm long; lobes ovate to elliptic. Stamens attached to the throat of corolla tube. Style short, stigma bifid. Fruits capsular, ca. 5 mm long, dehiscing in 2 valves.
