Description:
Woody climbers. Leaves opposite to subopposite, 6-12 cm long, oblong-elliptic. Spikes terminal, to 8 cm long. Flowers fragrant. Receptacles 4.5-8 cm long, narrowly tubular, expanding towards the apex. Sepals triangular, reflexed. Petals obovate-oblong, obtuse, white, turning deep red at maturity. Filaments 5-7 mm long. Fruit 3-3.5 cm long, ovate-elliptic, black.
