Description:
Perennial herbs, 15-25 cm high, stem terete, fleshy, rooting at nodes. Leaves simple, alternate, 5-12 x 2-4 cm, obovate, obtuse at apex, base attenuate, sub-auricled, thick and fleshy, margins sub-revolute, green above; lateral nerves, slender, faint; petiole 1-4 mm long, thick, reddish. Spikes terminal or to the axis of upper leaf, to 22 cm long; peduncle to 9 cm long, reddish unbranched or with few branches; flowers minute, greenish-yellow.
