Description:
Large shrubs, 1-2.5 m tall, stem and under surface of the leaves purplish-brown or purple red. Leaves opposite, tri or bipinnately compound; leaflets elliptic to oblong, acuminate at apex, margins remotely serrate, terminal leaflet is the largest; stipules 2-4 cm long, sheathing the terminal bud and adnate to the base of the petiole. Inflorescence reddish, leaf opposed. Flowers 4-4.5 mm diam. Fruit 8-11 mm across, depressed-globose, reddish, subtended by the persistent 5-lobed calyx.
