Description:
Erect biennial herbs 20-40 cm tall, stems furrowed, strongly aromatic, odour similar to that of coriander. Leaves oblanceolate-oblong in outline, margins crenate to finely spinose serrate. Flowers greenish, in dense, rounded cymes; involucral bracts 5-7, linear-lanceolate, greatly exceeding the flower heads, leaf-like, spreading and reflexed with a few spiny teeth; flower heads cylindrical. Sepals erect, lanceolate, longer than the petals. Petals greenish-white. Fruit globose or ovoid, 1-1.5 mm long, compressed, densely papillose.
