Description: 

Perennial vines; stems twining, glabrous, becoming woody with age. Leaves alternate, orbicular in outline, 5-20 cm across, deeply palmately lobed to beyond the middle or to the base into 3-5 segments. Inflorescences axillary, few-to several-flowered, widely cymosely branched. Sepals subequal or the outer slightly shorter, elliptic or ovate-elliptic, obtuse, concave. Corolla red or red-purple, salverform, tube ca. 4 cm long, the limb 4-4.5 cm wide; Stamens and style exserted. Fruits not formed.
