Color Design

My main idea for this project was for each of the 12 colors to use them as planets since they were bright colors and would stand out and there was white added so they were bold. Once adding the black I knew it would be hard to tell them apart so it would be good for the background. That’s why I thought space and planets would be a good choice.

I used acrylic paint for this project. I had 12 colors to start: primary, secondary, and tertiary. Then to each color, I added 3 different amounts of white and 3 different amounts of black to have 7 new shades and tones of that 1 color. I did that 12 times and got 84 colors.

I really only prepared by making a checkerboard on the canvas, adding a border, and tracing circles where the planets would go. Another thing I did was mentally imagine where each color would go and wrote it down so I would know that similar colors were not close together.
