3D Design

Semester Reflection

In what ways does your work illustrate your strengths and weaknesses as a learner? My work demonstrates all of my strengths and weaknesses throughout this year, the ways I do that are by the materials I use and the amount of instruction I get in class. With projects that I have more guidance throughout I seem to do better and make my art the best, it can be. With my sustained investigations, I seem to struggle a little more since I haven't had much guidance and it is harder for me to express what I have envisioned in my mind.

How does your work show how you have improved? My work has shown my improvements through this class because I have learned how to work with new materials. I also have learned how to create my art not just in 2D anymore but now in 3D. Overall the projects you can see how I’ve learned so much and developed new skills. I've tried using new materials and have tried to do all my projects with different materials and switch things up. So I can use these obtained skills in my higher-level classes in the future.

What was the most challenging project and why? The most challenging project(s) I've done this year is the sustained investigation. As I have said in the first question, I have struggled the most with my sustained investigations. I have little to no guidance with these projects and I have struggled to have no help with the materials I use and how to make it fit under the category of 3D art. I have gotten most of my inspiration from whatever the foundations of art kids have been working on and adapting it to my investigation. Also, make sure it fits under the 3D category.

What project are you most proud of and why? The proudest project I have made this year is probably the first project of the year, a white paper sculpture. The main idea to guide us through this project was a word of the year so far, this was right after midterms so the word I picked was overwhelmed. This was a great beginning project to start the second semester. I executed this project very well I think, kind of abstract, and was just a time for me to reflect on the first half of the year. Also for me to construct how I felt with only white paper so the sculpture was very bland but super powerful. This sculpture also got 3rd place at the Freeport Public Library Exhibition.

What are your artistic goals for the summer/future? My artistic goals for the summer, the next two years of high school, and my future career. For the summer I want to keep creating in my free time whether it be painting, constructing a quick fix to an issue that arises, or making friendship bracelets with my friends. In the next two years of high school, I was to finish Ceramics with Ceramics 2 junior year, as well as take Advance Art and Design next year, take AP Art and Design senior year, and lastly take Photography 1 and 2 during senior year. And with my courier, I want to go into the field of architecture or advertising. Im leaning towards advertising right now and being able to create digital art for all sorts of platform advertising whatever. Who knows if I end up going into that field, I still have two years to discover what I am interested in.
