Final Reflection
Do you feel like your experience in Ceramics II was successful? How did Ceramics II differ from Ceramics I both in terms of teacher expectation as well as your own experience with the projects? I feel like taking Ceramics II this year was a super good experience for me to take and helped me develop skills learned from Ceramics I. Ceramics II differed from Ceramics I because last year we would have more guidance with projects, whether it was ideas or techniques to construct a given project. This year we had a lot of wiggle room for each project with the ideas and the technique. Sometimes it was much more difficult getting ideas for a project since we did not have as much guidance.
What was the hardest thing for you in taking this course? How did you overcome this difficulty to be successful? A part of this class that was hard was that sometimes it was much more difficult getting ideas for a project since we did not have as much guidance. But also it gave me so much more freedom to create pieces I like and get to express my thoughts more. I overcame this challenge by just sitting down and thinking about what could be cool and how I could technically make whatever it might be.
What was your favorite project this year? Why? My favorite project this year has to be my Tile Design project. I like how I thought a lot about the design and how it can represent myself and I made a snowflake to represent how much I like the snow. Another part about my snowflake was how I used the primary colors for each of the levels of each tile, I thought each color worked well with the snowflake and the design.
What was your least favorite? Why? My least favorite project is probably the Elements project. I didn’t have an idea that I thought was thought out enough and so it didn't come out the way I would have liked. Also, it doesn't look like anything close to what I was going for. The glaze is pretty cool though.
In terms of the way the class was run, what worked for you? What worked well for me was the flow of the class and the way the class is structured. I was able to have plenty of time to work on each project and missing a day of construction and using that class to glaze didn't ruin my schedule. I felt we had tons of time to make our projects really well throughout and executed compared to Ceramics I thought that we had many more projects done in the same about of time as Ceramics II. It gave us so much more time to make almost all of my projects to be much more liked than the final products of last year's ceramics class.
