Independent Project 

For this project, I had the opportunity to come up with an idea to make something that was something functional. I've wanted to make something functional like a candle holder and I thought this was the perfect project for that. 

To create this piece I took wedged clay that I put in the slab roller to create the slab for the base of the candle holder. With this slab I layed over a bowl to get the shape for my base. Then I took the excess clay to create all the features of the face. Lastly I attached all the pieces together and smoothed to my desire. 

I created this project to make something functional that would be used in my house. Also I wanted this to be a project I really liked to show how I've grown in my technique over the last two years.
