2D Design

Semester Reflection

What have you been most successful with? Why? Something that I was very proud of myself for creating this year was my photoshop self-portrait. The self portrait project I decided to do myself and a friend so it ended up being two self-portraits. That project took just over 7 hours and the time it took shows how much time I put into this project. I really liked this project because it was simple to do. Also, the results look pretty realistic and I like the pixel blurry look.

What have you struggled with? Why? I struggled at the beginning of the year to get back into the groove of things after the summer break and being hybrid for the majority of last year. I think the first four projects show that I struggled at the beginning. I used materials I wasn’t as comfortable with and didn't put enough thought and effort into them. Looking back it was good for me to do poorly as I think because I was able to learn and grow from it. The circle's project gave me the boost of confidence that I needed to put more thought and effort into my work. With SI #1 I didn't like the outcome so I went back and redid it and I overcame and found a new way to go about it.

What are your artistic goals moving forward? My artistic goals moving forward is to take 3D design in semester two and build sculptures but with other materials than clay. I’m taking a ceramic one right now so I'm starting to get bored of clay. While I'm at home I sometimes paint and use paint markers. Something else I find relaxing and spend a lot of time doing is diamond painting. These small gems I place on a sticky piece of canvas make an image. It takes a lot of time but the results are satisfying.
