Artist Research

Jack Gilbert - Ceramics Research Project

Dish Paint

For this project, I researched two artists that had different styles and got the inspiration to create this paint dish. I used Lisa Conway's shape to get the form of this project and Jason Starin's texture for the edges of my paint tray.

To create this piece I used a wedged chunk of clay which I went in with my fingers and started to make each spot for the paint to go and smooth everything out. I then used a tool to create the texture on the side which I smoothed down a little bit to have no so many rough edges.

I created this because both of these artists works were so different and I liked them both for different reasons. I also felt it would be cool to try and mash these two artists styles together.
