Avoid labeling links to say "Click Here" or "Read More".
Use descriptive text links instead like "Learn more about the tax credit".
Do not capitalize all of the letters in the links.
Capitalize the first letter only unless describing a proper noun.
Avoid the word "link" as part of the text link.
Have a minimum of two words as the clickable text, or minimum of one and a half inch of clickable text length, so that people with hand mobility impairments can get the mouse to click the link.
Do not use "Read more here" multiple times on the same web page.
Use unique text links on a webpage, no two should say the same display text.
Avoid linking full URLs (EX: https://cdor.colorado.gov/send-an-americans-with-disabilities-act-ada-request)
Instead, use clean and clear display text "Send an ADA Request" and put the long URL in the URL field.
When a link is manually set to open in a new window when clicked, the text link will display an icon of piece of paper with an upward arrow coming out of the right corner.
Click the chain link icon.
Toggle the Advanced arrow down.
Toggle the "Open in new window" switch to the right.
Click the checkmark to save.
This is best practice.
