January 2nd 2003—Happy New Year!
2002 has come and gone
And the Rochats are lagging along
So what’s new, we’re usually late
We just don’t pay much attention to dates!
In February to Desert Hot Springs we flew
To visit Mama Rochat and a slew
Of relatives and friends in LA
Then headed home for work (Roger) and play (Susan).
In April Susan broke her leg
Mowing by the flower bed
Off to the ER, Rog hauled her away
But not before scarfing his P B & J
For weeks Sue had to humbly be
Propped up by pillows on the settee
Wheelchair bound and then on crutches
Nurse Roger treated her like a royal duchess (that she is!)
At graduation time, last May
A plaque was awarded to Rog that did say
“Professor of the Year” by students given
They love him to death and he thinks he’s in heaven!
Roger traveled far less this year
Which greatly pleased his Susan dear,
Puerto Rico, New Orleans, Hartford & Philly
Till he was rudely chased away by Hurricane Isadore(ly)
Other family trips we took,
Almost never by the book
We were charged by bison in Yellowstone Park
Sue hobbled into the ocean on crutches, just for a lark.
Remodeling was done at the old home place
All the windows and doors we did replace
A new sprinkler system in case of drought
And ever since then, rain has flooded the South.
Melanie is happily engaged
And nuptial plans are being made
With Greg Ziebell from Tennessee
A great addition to our family.
Our David climbs up rocks and walls
And we have seen him literally crawl
Across the ceiling at “Atlanta Rocks”
Body building and fitness for this Rochat jock!
Suzette and Michael are working and studying
To married life they are acclimating
We hope by the end of 2003
Michael will have his Ed D
And now we must bid you all adieu
This poem just has to have a curfew
We hope 2003 will bring
Much laughter, love and a song to sing.
With love and best wishes,
Roger and Susan
