Susan to Suzette
p. 3
Enclosed is a poem I wrote to her giving her my feelings on the subject when she left for Rochester earlier this summer!
Well, I can't find it so will send you a copy another time. Enclosing my "Neighborhood Dog Doo" poem that was published in the Atlanta Journal in April the day we left for the Northwest and a poem on "Questions on Heaven". Hope you enjoy them. The 1st one is rather silly, and the others not very deep either!
Love to each, and a hug to the grandchildren. Roger would like to get out to see you Mom this summer, we just need to figure out when. Hope she gets to feeling stronger soon! Feeling bum is no fun, and that's not a pun!

The Guilt Trip
1. You left a hole in my heart today
I thought you might want to come home and stay
But you boarded a plane and flew far away,
You left a hole in my heart today.
2. Your college days have gone by so soon
I cleaned and dusted your empty room
But you decide you couldn't stay
You left a hole in my heart today.
3. I guess you've grown up and ready to fly
To try out your wings like the eagles on high
Get on with life's living and give it your best
Become independent, away from the nest
4. God bless you our daughter, you have nothing to fear
We can't keep you home, though we may shed a tear
You can face life's challenges, one day at a time
We're proud of your courage and values so fine
5. The hole in my heart will mend some day
Though you are not near, I can always pray
Our kids leave the nest and fly far, far away
That's one of life's mysteries, God made us that way.
