Roger’s hand:
Dear Mom & Dad
Enjoyed your letters-and phone call. I don’t expect to see Jules & Mimi again this trip. Jules is spending 2 weeks at hot spa for neck pain. I invited him to Desert Hot Springs
Jules reminded me that Henry Dunant-was founder of Red Cross-was Christian in early assembly in Geneva.
Love to all,
Roger
Henry Dunant Battle of Solferino 1859 a victory of the allied French Army under Napoleon III and Piemont-Sardinian Army under Victor Emmanuel II (together known as the Franco-Sardinian Alliance) against the Austrian Army under Emperor Franz Joseph I. It was the last major battle in world history where all the armies were under the personal command of their monarchs. … Horrified by the suffering of wounded soldiers left on the battlefield, Dunant set about a process that led to the Geneva Conventions and the establishment of the International Red Cross.
