Subject: A Farewell to Shirley, with many thanks
Shirley, dear Shirley, oh what can we say,
Decades of teaching your patience displayed
Adolescents to Seniors you graciously taught
To write essays with punctuation carefully fraught!
With kind gentle spirit, diligently you sifted
Their stumbling and bumbling to words that were gifted.
Your students now know how to write. thanks to you
They love and admire your grit to push through
Obstacles that most would just throw in the towel
You hung in there, determined to watch every vowel.
To turn on the lights in their hearts and their minds
With beautiful words lessen the world's daily grind.
Thank you, Ms. Shirley, your inspiration is like gold
A beautiful gift for all students, the young and the old.
