The Fleecing of Cute Little Old Ladies (Or gentlemen too!)
By Susan Rochat
When you’re up in your ‘70’s or even your ‘80’s
You’d better beware of the sharks
They’re circling around, and you they’ll astound
With their warmth and their tender remarks
Their teeth will be hidden, you’ll surely be smitten
By their hugs and their fabulous smiles
Be wary, dear ladies, these aren’t yellow canaries
But dogs out to fleece and beguile.
They’ll woo and they’ll cuddle
Your senses befuddle
And be swayed to give all you have
Hey, that’s just what they want.
They’ll not glance back while you lie in a puddle.
When playing with fire, you’ll likely be burned.
Stay away from the smoke and the flames.
Remember your rich past,
What you believe and you stand for,
Turn away from these dangerous games.
We have one life to live,
Let’s be joyful and grateful
For those whom we’ve helped ‘long life’s way.
But for those who would use us,
For treasure or pleasure,
“Farewell” is the right word to say.
