Overview of Sanctuary Renovation Committee Plans
Better connections to sanctuary and better entrances and exits from church
Atrium in light well
North Avenue Parking entrance
Close and connect preschool and children’s area with a large open space
This would provide space for footings that may be needed for sanctuary work
Entrance to 3rd floor lobby – via Broyles elevator
Long-range plan will include Alpha House and Broyles Ministry Center
How can we renovate and include Alpha House and activities connected to the Broyles Ministry Center in our plans?
Should Alpha House be located at 607 Peachtree or remain at Courtland and Linden?
Renovation of sanctuary ideas include the following:
Raising the ceiling (removing the dome and added additional ceiling above the organ chamber).
New mechanical systems throughout
Additional seating – made possible by adding a chapel that would be situated where the Senior Pastor’s Office is located and opening up the area where the air handling units are currently located. 100 additional seats would be added. These seats and spaces would be arranged so that the space could be used alone or as part of the main sanctuary.
Raise the organ and choir area and renovate the entire chancel area which will include a smaller rosette stained glass window to balance the one overlooking Peachtree that will be visible once the ceiling is raised.
Entrances to the sanctuary may impact the space currently used as a gym/dining room. Question: What are the long-range plans for the gym?
