1959 nd Roger to Dorothy Rochester, NY [green cursive]
Wed [mentions Carol’s dinner]
Dear Dorothy, (et al),
Here is some ?s & answers that popped into my “mind” as I read your letter.
1 I don’t know why you want to write the various mints (I don’t mean candy) but I’m sure just writing to the cities (Phil, Frisco, Denver) would suffice.
2 Why don’t you get a coin book from a coin collectors company. Of course, the very best thing would be to get Dad & John’s help & maybe make one out of the plywood-or would that work?
*3. It’s really too bad you and MJ get such poor grades-I really feel sorry for you!
*4 What is black flats + is $4.00 a good price to pay for ‘em?
*5 And what is black heels-some kind of shoes (or some type of boy-if so, what were you doing buying a pair??} *Just being facetious!
Sounds like Dad & John are really putting in the work on the floor.
Yeh, Mom, maybe you’re right. I want my cake & I want to eat it, too1 This afternoon I went to a lecture on “Power from the Atom” by a chap (I don’t know his name). who has been to several Geneva conferences. Dr. Marshak, Head of U of R Physics, (Nobel Prize winner, glaub ich) (ie-maybe this year) was there I spoke also-fairly interesting, but a poor way to get schoolwork done.
8:30 later this pm
Wel, I just got back from our Bible study group on the “hill” (Women’s Center). But I don’t know whether I’ll have time tonite to go to our Tierman Bible Study as I’ve still got calculus & German assinments to do.
Does Gramps make any mention of my letter to him about next spring? I am interested to know if he’ll even consider it or reject it in toto.
With regards to Sue, I still favor K.L by a great deal-but I’m not going to let this prove a delineating factor on my friendships.
Crossed out algebraic relationship and soul. [see google site, original letter]
I’m glad you got to see some of the folks from Spokane-they seem awfully distant, mile-wise—but very close in memory.
I must get to work. Wish I could be with you all at Carol’s dinner Sat.
Much love Roger
